La Banda Morisca était, au Moyen-Âge, la fluctuante frontière qui séparait le royaume arabo-andalous de Grenade des royaumes chrétiens d´Aragon et de Castille. C´est probablement dans ce no man’s land que se croisaient et cohabitaient les commerçants, nomades et fugitifs chrétiens et musulmans, ainsi que les premiers gitans arrivés dans la péninsule, grâce à qui la musique flamenco a vu le jour.
La Banda Morisca est un septet de musique flamenco et arabo-andalouse issu du riche terreau musical formé par les nombreuses civilisations qui ont traversé cette terre regorgeant de musiciens, poètes et aventuriers.
Musiciens d’origines diverses, dont certains faisaient partie du célèbre groupe Radio Tarifa, et passionnés par l’héritage de l’Andalousie et du Maghreb, les membres du groupe se retrouvent et collaborent autour d’un répertoire original, centré sur l’héritage culturel légué par la civilisation d’Al-Andalus.
Dans sa démarche, le groupe propose une nouvelle vision d´un répertoire qui mêle les influences orientales et occidentales de la Méditerranée (moaxajas, chaabi, Dahmane el Harachi, Nass el Ghiwan) à l´esprit du flamenco traditionnel et du rock andalou (El Chozas, Lole y Manuel, Triana…).
La Banda Morisca, une frontière musicale éclatée au confluent de rencontres sensationnelles et de mélodies renouvelées.

La Banda Morisca (the Moorish band) was, in the Middle Ages, the fluctuating boundary that separated the Arab-Andalusian kingdom of Granada from the Christian kingdoms of Aragon and Castile. It was probably in this no man’s land that traders, nomads as well as Christian and Muslim fugitives came across one another and cohabited, along with the first Gypsies who arrived on the Iberian Peninsula, through whom flamenco music emerged.
La Banda Morisca is a flamenco and Arab-Andalusian septet originating in the rich musical soil formed by the many civilizations that crossed this land overflowing with musicians, poets and adventurers. Consisting of musicians from diverse origins, some of whom were part of the famous group Radio Tarifa, the group’s members have come together and collaborated around an original repertory, centred around the cultural heritage bequeathed by the civilization of Al-Andalus.
In its approach, the group offers a new vision of a repertory that blends eastern and western influences from the Mediterranean (moaxajas, chaabi, Dahmane el Harachi, Nass el Ghiwan) with the traditional flamenco spirit and Andalusian rock (El Chozas, Lole y Manuel, Triana).
